Ecohesion at the ISEE-Degrowth 2025 Conference

From 24 to 27 June 2025, Ecohesion will take part in the international ISEE-Degrowth conference in Oslo. The event brings together researchers, activists and organizations from around the world to discuss post-growth economies and ecological justice, with the goal of connecting theory and action. Ecohesion will contribute with several presentations focused on ecological economics, just transitions, sustainability, inequality, and macroeconomic modelling. Here is an overview of the sessions we will take part in:

Wednesday, 25 June

  • Ecological Macroeconomics Modelling: Exploring Alternative Futures
    Ecological models and biodiversity to imagine alternative economic futures.
  • Sustaining Sufficiency for Systemic Change
    Sufficiency-based scenarios for a fair green transition, with a focus on Finland.
  • Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services / Nature’s Contributions to People
    The role of biodiversity and ecosystem services in macroeconomic models.
  • Material Dependency in the Green Transition
    A critical perspective on bioenergy in the context of the green transition.
  • Income and Wealth Inequality – Strategies for Redistribution and Sharing
    An analysis of carbon and income inequality trends in Italy.

    The role of public services in building a sustainable care-based economy.

Thursday, 26 June

  • Decarbonising Fossil Fuel Economies
    Emissions, inequality and the challenges of a just low-carbon transition.
  • Ecological macroeconomics: scrutinizing theory, models, and indicators
    A theoretical and methodological discussion on ecological macroeconomics.
  • Plenary Session – Work, working time, and care in postgrowth societies
    Work, time and care in societies beyond growth.

Friday, 27 June

  • Modeling transition scenarios for non-modelers
    A special session on scenario modelling, designed also for non-specialists.

Our participation in the conference is part of Ecohesion’s ongoing international research efforts to imagine and support alternative economic pathways based on social, ecological and intergenerational justice.
